Chief Petty Officer 1st Class Lucie Simpson was born and raised in Cabano, Quebec and enrolled in the CF in October 1989 as a Communicator Research Operator. Upon completion of her trade training at the Canadian Forces School of Communications and Electronics in Kingston, she was posted to Canadian Forces Station Leitrim in Ottawa. Since then, she has completed all trade and leadership courses up to her current rank.
CPO1 Simpson was posted onboard HMC Ships HURON and ALGONQUIN as a Cryptologic Direct Support Element operator and deployed in HMCS OTTAWA for a six month deployment to Southwest Asia in support of OP Altair, the Campaign against the Threat of Terrorism integrated within a United States Navy Carrier Strike Group USS BOXER as the CDSE Team Leader. She also deployed twice to Canadian Forces Station Alert on Ellesmere’s Island, North West Territories for six month tours.
CPO1 Simpson had the opportunity to serve overseas integrated within the National Security Agency Central Security Services Regional Operations Center as the Canadian Forces Information Operations Group Detachment Commander and was employed as the Mission Manager on the Island of Oahu, Hawaii. After her return to Canada she was posted at CFIOG HQ in the Capability Support team until her selection as the CFS Leitrim Support Squadron Sergeant-Major. Two years later CPO1 Simpson worked in to the Canadian Forces Intelligence Command as the J2 Signals Intelligence and Electronic Warfare requirements. Subsequently, she returned to CFIOG appointed as the Canadian Forces Network Operation Center Unit Chief.
CPO1 Simpson proudly assumed her role as the CFMWS CWO in July 2017. She is responsible to assist and advise the DGWMS on matters affecting all CAF members, veterans and their families.
She is quite competitive and enjoys spending time with her husband Jeffrey on the golf course, running, dragon boating and kayaking.
